Guidelines for Guest Posting
At Going Solar, we see the value of having guest post contributors. Whether you are a freelance writer or a company that has authority on the subject, we understand the importance of giving our readers various perspectives to help them gain more knowledge on the subject.
Our content is aimed at helping readers make informed decisions when it comes to choosing solar panels for their homes. We help our readers compare different installers, costs of installing solar, how solar panels work, and what state incentives are available in their area.
While our primary focus is helping readers find the best solar option for their situation, we also write on a variety of other solar topics, including:
- Solar Panel Maintenance
- Solar Panel Kits
- Paying for Solar
- Installation Guides
- Claiming State Incentives
- Basics of Solar
If you would like to contribute to our site with a guest post, please review the guidelines detailed below.

The Blog Post
Here are some rules when writing your blog post:
- Length: blog post should be anywhere from 1,000 to 2,500 words.
- References and Linking: include relevant external links (this can be to your own site, but please refrain from turning it into a promotion) and internal links to previously published Going Solar content. External links should be from credible sources (not Wikipedia) and not from competing websites. Link directly to the source when quoting someone or a study. And please include a list of reference articles used at the end of your article.
- SEO and Ranking: help our site maintain SEO rankings by using proper formatting (titles, headers, bolding, bulleted lists, etc.). While not all of this is relevant to your individual article, we recommend reviewing Neil Patel’s How to Perform an SEO Audit- Free $5000 Template Included, to help you optimize your article.
- Images: if including images, make sure they are licensed and include Alt tags. We will include our own images if none are provided or we prefer our own.
- Formatting: please use standard writing practices including writing numbers 1-10 in long-form, and using numbers for 11 upward. Follow the Oxford comma rules.
