The conversion of the sun’s energy into usable electricity is not only something you can benefit from when installing a solar system in your home. Solar chargers and solar banks make it possible for you to generate power wherever you go.

Solar phone chargers work as portable chargers that can keep you connected when you aren’t close to a power outlet. A solar charger uses the sun’s energy to produce electricity. This electricity can be stored in a solar bank or battery pack to be used when you need it.

Today, most portable chargers can accommodate modern smart devices and have various charging options. This includes micro USB ports and cables. Many of them also work well as wireless chargers. These solar chargers have fast charging capabilities to power your devices quickly in many cases.

Who is Blavor?

Blavor is officially registered as Shenzen Dongshen Xuri Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. The company is located in the Bao’an District, also known as the Electronic Technology Development Zone, in Shenzen, China. Although Blavor is situated in China, they ship to the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan.

Blavor products can also be purchased through various suppliers throughout the United States. Having said that, the main sales platform used by Blavor is Amazon, and the company cautions against fake products being sold by third parties.

The Blavor brand solar power bank.

Blavor produces and sells various portable solar power banks or battery packs. Some are small and compact, while others have larger, detachable solar panels to generate more power. The smaller solar power banks work better when they have been charged by an outlet. The solar panel on these devices are small and thus will require more time to fully charge the power bank’s battery when it is depleted.

Each Blavor product has a 12-month warranty. You can extend this warranty by an additional six months (for a total of 18 months) if you register your Blavor products. You will need to have your Amazon order number to register. Faulty products that are returned under warranty will be replaced with a new product.

Blavor also offers lifetime technical support when you purchase one of their products.

The company will give you a full refund if you return an undamaged product within 30 days of purchase. However, if you return your Blavor product for any reason other than quality-related, you will be responsible for the shipping costs.

Suppose you purchase a Blavor product through a third party. In that case, the return policy and warranty process could differ from those offered by Blavor.

How does the Blavor solar power bank work?

Solar products can work in two ways. They can generate and provide electricity only when exposed to the sun and connected to electronic devices. If a solar product is connected to a battery (or has one onboard), it can power your devices even while the sun does not shine.

A solar panel that simply generates power while it is exposed to the sun (and doesn’t when it isn’t) is usually referred to as a charger or solar generator. On the other hand, a solar product that stores the generated power in a battery is called a solar power bank, solar battery bank, or solar battery pack.

Blavor solar power banks combine solar panels with battery storage to work as portable solar power banks. Most of their products accommodate different charging options. Power banks can be charged by harvesting the sun’s energy or plugging them into a power outlet. They can charge other devices through various ports or via wireless charging.

All Blavor’s products that support wireless charging are compatible with all Qi-enabled devices. Qi wireless charging technology (pronounced “Chee”) is “the world’s de facto wireless charging standard for providing 5 – 15 watts of power to small personal electronics.” Only wireless charging devices that have passed the Wireless Power Consortium’s tests for safety, interoperability, and usability can be Qi-certified and are allowed to carry the Qi logo.

Different kinds of Blavor power banks.

The Blavor products that are available depend on where you will be buying from. The company’s international website lists six different solar power banks. Their U.S site (that sells through Amazon) only has three solar power bank products.

PN-W05 Solar Power Bank.

The PN-W05 is a Qi wireless solar power bank that is compatible with all Qi-enabled devices. The device can be charged via solar power or a power outlet. It has a micro USB and Type C input ports.

The 10,000mAh lithium polymer battery takes around six hours to be fully charged using a 5V/2A adapter. It can charge most devices about twice before the solar bank needs to be recharged.

The PN-W05 is easy to use. Pressing the power button will turn on the wireless charging function. It also comes with other handy features like dual flashlights and a compass. The unit is splashproof, dustproof, and shockproof.

This portable charger weighs around 10 ounces and measures 5.9 x 3.1 x 0.8 inches. Because the PN-W05 is compact, it can only accommodate a small solar panel. You may also not always have the best sunlight conditions to allow for optimum solar energy generation. Blavor suggests that you use the solar charging option as a backup when other power sources are not available. The company suggests that you fully charge the PN-W05 by connecting it to a power outlet before taking it with you when leaving the house or going on a trip.

Blavor Solar Charger Power Bank 20,000mAh – w12.

Blavor sometimes refers to this solar power bank as model PN-W12. The 20,000mAh lithium polymer battery can charge devices with a larger battery capacity or charge devices with smaller power requirements multiple times before the power bank needs to be recharged.

The PN-W12 can charge most Qi-enabled smartphones around four times. This wireless charger is also able to fully charge a 13-inch Macbook Pro with a touch bar once. It can be fully recharged in 13 hours using a 5V 2.1A adapter.

Additional features include a built-in compass kit and flashlight. The flashlight has three settings: a regular flashlight, SOS light, and strobe.

The PN-W12, including its solar panel, weighs just over 21 ounces and measures 7 x 3.6 x 1.6 inches.

PN-W09 Solar Power Bank.

The PN-W09 was launched in 2019 and was listed as the most versatile power bank [number 6 on the list] by Aquion Energy. This Qi wireless charger has five detachable and portable solar panels that produce a 1,300mA charging current. While the panels are attached, the device can function as a solar charger. The magnetic panels can be removed, and the unit used as a stand-alone portable power bank.

Two USB output ports (2.1A and 1.0A) allow you to charge additional devices. That means you can charge up to three devices at once. Keep in mind that only the 2.1A USB port supports fast charging.

Additional features include a flashlight that can function as a regular flashlight, an SOS signal light, or a flashing strobe.

How long does a Blavor power bank last?

How long a Blavor power bank will last can depend on a number of factors. Fully-charged power banks will last longer than devices that are only partially charged. This is true even while the solar power bank is exposed to sunlight in most cases.

Blavor power banks with batteries with a high capacity or larger solar panels will generally charge devices for more extended amounts of time. These products will also be able to charge devices with higher power demands more efficiently than smaller solar power banks.

Larger power banks will be able to charge multiple devices at a time or fully charge some devices multiple times. On the other hand, more compact solar power banks will have limited charging capabilities.

How much do Blavor solar power banks cost?

The regular sales price for Blavor solar power banks ranges between $45 and $120. However, you could get them for between $30 and $70. More compact solar power banks tend to be less expensive, but that comes at a different kind of cost. They tend to have a smaller battery capacity and solar panel(s). This means they can provide and generate less power than larger units.

Larger units like the PN-W09 can generate more power and thus provide more electricity to charge your devices. This is reflected in the higher price.

Is it worth having a Blavor solar power bank as part of your solar system?

Blavor solar power banks are designed to be portable. This is not a product that you would use in conjunction with your home solar panel system. Instead, a Blavor solar power bank will be able to provide you with backup power when you are far from a power outlet. They also work well as backup power sources in the event of a power outage.

A portable solar charger is a handy tool that helps you keep connected when you are out and about. Having a solar charger that incorporates a solar bank allows you to store energy harvested from direct sunlight to use when you need it most.

Qi portable chargers allow for fast charging without the hassle of dealing with wires. Still, most have dual USB ports, and many can accommodate devices that use micro USB connections.
